I’ve Always Followed Pharrell’s Skincare Advice, So HumanRace Was a Natural Next Step

Back in 2013, I came across an article on Into The Gloss in which Pharrell revealed that he washed his face with cold water every day.

My response to that tidbit of information from the ever ageless music icon? Say no more.

I have washed my face with cold water since that day.

At the time I was a 23-year-old running around NYC, living my best life, partying, running to catch the train for Scandal night with the girls, and drinking Lime-A-Ritas like there was no tomorrow.

At 31, I realize that there is indeed a tomorrow, it’s right here, right now and my skincare routine (which has evolved a great deal since then) could stand another upgrade.

Imagine my excitement when Pharrell announced the release of his own skincare line, Humanrace. I mean, this man refuses to age, if I was buying into any celebrity skincare routine it would be his.

Running you back about $100, the full 3-product line is an investment but if you don’t invest in yourself, who will?

It keeps selling out because we’re all apparently on the same page about wanting to look like we’re 19. Keep reading for my honest opinion!

First Impression: “Oop! This cleanser is…powder. That’s different. Let me read these directions.”

Observations: “I feel like I just got a facial,” I exclaimed aloud as I finished up the routine because this is the part of the pandemic where you talk to yourself at full volume. This was well before I realized that the system is actually called the “three-minute facial” so, they’re on point with that.

When I was done I debated whether or not I wanted to put makeup over my freshly washed face. I love that the Rice Powder Cleanser is a super gentle exfoliant. I love that the Lotus Enzyme Exfoliator doubles up on the cleansing experience and really gets the dead skin out of there. The Humidifying cream feels like a creamy gel and finishes like Laura Mercier’s makeup primer, do with that what you will.

Takeaway: I’ll be using the cleanser and the exfoliant every day. My face felt refreshed and spa-like after using them. The moisturizer felt great as well but because it has a creamy consistency, it left my face oily towards the end of the day. I’m going to stick with my Base Butter gel moisturizer instead. If you don’t have oily skin, I’d definitely recommend using the entire system.

I say all of that to say, I think Skateboard P is on to something. Humanrace is doing a restock on Friday, February 26th. Sign up to get the alert at humanrace.com.
