I’ve never been the best at keeping up with my jewelry. I’ve misplaced several pieces that were really important to me. Actually, I’m pretty sure that at a certain point in my childhood, my father declared that he would not be purchasing jewelry for me of any kind until I was an adult.
Now that I am said adult, I’m thankfully able to purchase my own pieces, and just like everything else, it hits different when it’s your money regardless of how much you spend.
At the time of the initial purchase of my “Self Love” ring, I was at home bored (thanks Covid) and quite frankly in need of some retail therapy. I’d been eyeing Rinny Perkin’s work for quite some time (you should follow her on IG stat), and when I spotted that simple yet pointed message, I knew it had to be mine.
Was the concept of self love not what the entirety of my 2020 reflections had been about? Was it not the perfect representation of where I was in my life? Didn’t I want these men to know what it was before they even opened their mouths? Yes, yes, and yes.

So, pushing that purchase button wasn’t a second thought, and when I received it, I was quite pleased with myself, which is fitting.
After all of the thought that went into this purchase, imagine my anguish when I realized I’d left it in a restaurant after my very first voyage out to see a friend post-covid shutdowns. I mean, I was sadder than I felt like I should be and had to have a “people are out here dying” conversation with myself a la the Kardashians.
I digress.
Right then and there, I promised myself that I would replace it when it was available because I deserve.
I did. It arrived last week. I’m super happy with both purchases and plan on being ultra-careful with this one.
