This One Thing: The Hand Embroidered Coat That Lives Rent-Free In My Head
One could say that I have elusive taste when it comes to fashion, and they wouldn’t be wrong.
I tend to hover between a state of overt simplicity and impractical flamboyance — there really isn’t a mid-point and I’ve come to appreciate that about myself.
One could also say that because of this style inclination I gravitate toward The Folklore’s top-tier selection of pieces.
I did, after all, debut this entire site wearing a Sisiano dress that I still whole-heartedly stand by and love.
But…this coat. This coat by South African brand Viviers, has been on my mind since I laid eyes on it one morning during an “I haven’t even wiped my eyes” scroll through Instagram.
Maybe it’s the kimono-esque silhouette, or the floral, (borderline grandma’s curtains) pattern but this leather, hand-embroidered beauty called out to me, okay?
Where would one go? What adventures would greet you simply because you had this on? Who and what would be able to stop you?
In this case, the only way you’d know is by plunging in, snagging this one-of-a-kind piece (no really, they only have one) and finding out for yourself.
Alas, another tidbit that always seems to ring true about my sense of style is that it lives outside of my budget, and that happens to be the case here.
But, if you have it, I say go forth and make it yours. I’d congratulate you for afar, happy that at least someone got to experience it. After all, life is too short for boring outerwear.
